Nursing Schools & Programs
It’s a great time to study to become a nurse in California. Nursing workforce experts say there is a nursing shortage across the United States and far beyond.
Academic institutions in California offer a wide variety of nursing education programs. They offer Bachelor of Science Degree Nursing, Associate Degree, and Licensed Practical Nursing programs. Advanced degrees such as Master’s, and Doctoral programs are also readily available and prepare the student for work in administration, advanced nursing practice, education and research. Advance Practice Nurses (APN) include Nurse Practitioners, Nurse Midwives, Nurse Anesthetists and a somewhat new role, the Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP).

Los Angeles Nurse Support Fund
Our hearts are with all those affected by the devastating wildfires in California. We know many of our members are in the impacted regions, and our thoughts are especially with you during this difficult time.
We are profoundly grateful for the nurses, healthcare professionals, and other first responders who continue to serve their communities with unwavering compassion and strength, even as many of you face personal challenges. Your dedication is a testament to the resilience and courage that defines our profession.
ACNL has set up the Los Angeles Nurse Support Fund to assist our nurse colleagues in the Los Angeles area who have suffered losses as a result of the fires.
Funds will be distributed according to level of need and priority will be given to those in need of housing.
For any questions, including how to apply for funds, please contact ACNL CEO Kimberly Long at kimberly@acnl.org or Diane Breckenridge, President of the LA Coastal Chapter of ACNL, at breckenridgediane@gmail.com.
